Facts of Children and Starvation:

Sometimes when we hear that there are starving children in the world, we hear but we don't really listen with our ears, mind and heart.  We understand that there are starving children but we don't realize the severity of this world-wide issue.  We tend to have the issue of "out of sight, out of mind"...We can not have this mind-set anymore.

Here are some heart-wrenching facts of the truth about the starving children in the world we live in today.

-Every year 15 million children die of hunger

-For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years

-160 million children under the age of 5 are malnourished worldwide

-The infant mortality rate is closely linked to inadequate nutrition among pregnant women.

-Half of all children under five years of age in South Asia and one third of those in sub-Saharan Africa are malnourished

-About 183 million children weigh less than they should for their age.

-Malnutrition is implicated in more than half of all child deaths worldwide

-Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger
